U.S. Seeks 'Cyber Silver Bullet' on Iran

The U.S. Cyber Command has been looking for a “cyber silver bullet” that would allow it to hit back at Iran for its drone strike on Saudi oil refineries without risking a bigger Iranian counterattack. So reports The New York Times.

The U.S. launched a cyberattack against Iran in June, and a second one is shaping up to be the most attractive choice left for President Donald Trump, who has said American troops should leave the region, senior officials told The Times.

But a discussion was underway within the administration and beyond about whether a cyberattack would be effective by itself and how severely Iran might respond to a particularly harmful cyberattack.
