Excellus Health Plan Agrees to Cyber Overhaul in Breach Settlement  

Excellus Health Plan has inked a proposed settlement in litigation stemming from a 2015 data breach affecting 10.5 million people. So reports SC Magazine.

ExcellusUnder the deal, the Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate would make various upgrades to its cybersecurity protocols and direct $4.35 million to “attorneys’ fees, reasonable costs and expenses of all cases comprising the litigation.”

The health insurer didn’t admit to wrongdoing, and the pool of breach victims would apparently not be allotted funds.
