Verizon Refuses to Pay Ransom Over Employee Database  

A Verizon spokesperson has confirmed that the company has been in touch with a hacker who claims to have stolen an employee database but said there are no plans for further contact. So reports Motherboard.

VerizonThe hacker had been demanding $250,000 for the cache containing full names, ID numbers, email addresses and phone numbers for hundreds of Verizon employees.

The Verizon spokerson called the data “readily available employee directory information” and said the company didn’t believe the hacker possessed “any sensitive information.”
