TikTok Can Now Determine What Floor A User Is On, Cyber Firm Claims  

Internet 2.0, an Australian-U.S. cybersecurity company whose research last year prompted some western authorities to ban TikTok from government-issued devices, has claimed the social video company’s updated code now seeks a user’s altitude data. So reports The Guardian.

TikTok“So if you’re in a high-rise building, they can tell what floor you’re on now,” Internet 2.0’s director, David Robinson, told a Senate committee. “And that wasn’t previously in their code last year.”

A TikTok spokesperson said the service collects GPS information only when enabled by users and does not collect GPS data in Australia.
