Cybersecurity Exec Pleads Guilty to Hacking-as-Marketing Bid

A cybersecurity executive has admitted in court to orchestrating cyberattacks in an effort to drum up business. So reports The HIPAA Journal.

jail 1287943 1280Vikas Singla, chief operating officer of Atlanta-based Securolytics, pleaded guilty to a count of intentional damage to a protected computer over the attacks on Georgia’s Gwinnett Medical Center.

Singla faces up to 10 years in prison at his sentencing, set for February 15, 2024.
