EU Eyes Tighter Rules for Smart Devices’ Cybersecurity  

Manufacturers would be required to adhere to cybersecurity standards for Internet-connected devices under new legislation that has been proposed by the European Union’s executive body. So reports Claims Journal.

european union ge470c6689 640The Cyber Resilience Act, as the law proposed by the European Commission is known, seeks to block products from the EU’s single market if they are not bolstered enough against cyber threats.

The 27-nation bloc said that Europe alone loses 180 billion to 290 billion euros (about $185 billion to $298 billion) annually to cyberattacks.
