Vietnam Imposes Cybersecurity Law Amid Sharp Criticism

A law has taken effect that forces online businesses operating in Vietnam to remove content the government regards as “toxic.” So reports the Straits Times.

Facebook, Google, and other tech companies will be required to open offices in Vietnam and turn in user data at the government’s request. The United States, the European Union and free-speech advocates have harshly criticized the new law.
