Hackers Target Epilepsy Foundation with Strobe Lights

The Epilepsy Foundation has revealed that a mass cyberattack subjected the nonprofit’s thousands of Twitter followers to videos and images of flashing strobe lights. So reports The New York Times.

epilepsy 623346 1920Seemingly meant to cause seizures in people with epilepsy, the series of incidents occurred during National Epilepsy Awareness Month, which was in November.

Allison Nichol, director of legal advocacy for the Epilepsy Foundation, told the Times that the mass attack was “no different than a person carrying a strobe light into a convention of people with epilepsy… with the intention of inducing seizures and thereby causing significant harm to the participants.”
