Walmart Hit with Class Action Under New California Privacy Law

Walmart has become one of the latest companies to face a proposed class action under California’s sweeping new privacy law, which took effect on January 1. So reports Bloomberg Law.

walmart 4054031 1920The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that the retail giant violated the California Consumer Privacy Act by failing to shield consumer data from an alleged breach.

A Walmart spokesperson disputed the allegations, saying, “Protecting our customers’ data is a top priority and something we take very seriously.”
