Home Depot’s 2014 Data Breach Spawns $17.5M Settlement

Home Depot has agreed to pay $17.5 million to end multiple state-level investigations into a 2014 data breach. So reports Reuters.

Home DepotThe home-improvement retail giant did not admit or deny wrongdoing as part of the settlement, which involved 46 states and Washington, D.C.

The five-month breach allowed hackers to access payment details of 40 million customers who used self-checkout aisles at Home Depot’s U.S. and Canadian locations.
