FireEye Reveals Data Breach, with Russia Reported As Culprit

Cybersecurity firm FireEye has disclosed that it was itself the victim of a data breach, and state-backed Russian hackers are believed to be responsible. So reports The Washington Post.

russia 1020934 640smallFireEye, which attributed the breach to “a nation with top-tier offensive capabilities,” but did not specify Russian involvement, said the hackers made off with some of the tools it uses to probe clients’ networks for weaknesses.

People familiar with the matter told The Post that the breach was the work of an outfit known as APT 29 or Cozy Bear, linked to Russia’s SVR foreign intelligence service.
