FBI Ran 1.9 Million Warrantless Searches Related to Cyberattacks  

A national intelligence document has revealed that last year the Federal Bureau of Investigation undertook as many as 3.4 million warrantless searches of Americans’ data, among them 1.9 million related to Russian cyberattacks. So reports CNN.

FBI seal g4471fd7d1 640The disclosure, in an annual transparency report by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, marks the first time the agency has given even a ballpark figure for the number of FBI searches invoking the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978, or FISA.

The FBI said the 1.9 million searches involving Russian cyberattacks were related to a certain unspecified threat against U.S. critical infrastructure.
