Portland, Ore., Loses $1.4M After Cybersecurity Breach  

The city of Portland, Ore., has acknowledged a cybersecurity breach that led to $1.4 million being removed from public coffers. So reports The Oregonian.

portland oregonCity officials said in a news release that a fraudulent financial transaction took place in late April and was found on May 17 when the city spotted a second attempted transaction from the same account.

“Preliminary evidence indicates that an unauthorized, outside entity gained access to a city of Portland email account to conduct this illegal activity," a city spokesperson told the newspaper.
