Australia’s Optus Tells Clients They Can’t Use Passports as Online ID  

Australian telecommunications company Optus has begun telling customers affected by a recent massive cybersecurity incident that they can no longer use their passport numbers in the national Document Verification System. So reports The Guardian.

OptusOptus has told customers they would not need to replace their passports after the hack, which affected 10 million customers.

The DVS allowed access to health and welfare payments through government agencies and was used by financial institutions as well.
