FBI Shuts Down Notorious Qakbot Malware Network

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has announced that it and international authorities have taken down Qakbot, a malware network that has allegedly cost cyberattack victims hundreds of millions of dollars. So reports The Washington Post.

FBI seal g4471fd7d1 640The FBI said that the operation, code-named “Duck Hunt,” recovered about $8.6 million in stolen cryptocurrency linked to the botnet’s activities.

Qakbot, a banking trojan, facilitated the operations of the Conti and REvil ransomware gangs and infected 700,000 computers worldwide, according to authorities.
