LastPass Breach May Have Spawned Crypto Thefts, Experts Say

A breach of the LastPass password management service in December 2022 appears to be linked to a recent spate of cryptocurrency thefts, according to security experts. So reports The Verge.

lastpassMore than 150 thefts involving more than $35 million have reportedly been tied to the breach, at a pace of two to five per month.

Taylor Monahan of crypto wallet company MetaMask said that each of the victims had used LastPass to save the digital key needed to access crypto investments, known as their “seed phrase.”
