23andMe Acknowledges 6.9M Users Affected by Data Leak

Genetic testing company 23andMe has confirmed that threat actors were able to access the personal data of about 6.9 million users in a previously disclosed cybersecurity incident. So reports The Hill.

23andmeThe company said that its DNA Relatives feature, which links users with relatives, led to about 5.5 million users having their data accessed. They said hackers were able to access the remaining 1.9 million users’ data by using login combinations exposed in previous data breaches.

The company previously disclosed that the incident affected only about 14,000 users.
