TikTok Fined $368M in Europe Over Children’s Privacy

TikTok has been slapped with a $368 million fine for running afoul of Europe’s tough data protection rules when it comes to children’s privacy. So reports the Associated Press.

TikTokIreland’s Data Protection Commission said the violations dated to the latter half of 2020. The watchdog is still looking into whether TikTok complied with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation when it moved data to its parent company ByteDance’s domicile of China.

TikTok disputed the ruling, “particularly the level of the fine imposed,” it said.
