60,000 EU Data Breaches Reported in Eight Months

Public and private organizations have reported more than 59,000 personal data breaches to EU regulators since the new General Data Protection Regulation took effect last May, according to a study by law firm DLA Piper. So reports Reuters.

One privacy activist said that because this is the first time such figures have been available, it’s difficult to say whether the amount is unusual. Breaches ranged from big hacks to missent emails and lost memory devices.
