Big Banks Face Endless Defense Against Cyberattacks

The Capital One data breach shows how large financial companies are locked in an endless battle against hackers. So reports The New York Times.

The Times cites reports filed with the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, which revealed that there have been 3,494 successful hacks on financial institutions so far this year.

But while hackers only need to get lucky once, large financial companies face hundreds of thousands of cybersecurity incidents per day, including 460,000 a day at Mastercard alone—up 70% from last year.
