Senators Eye Cyberattack Disclosure at SolarWinds Hearing

Both parties’ ranking members on the Senate Intelligence committee have said Congress may want to pass a law requiring cyberattack victims to notify authorities of the incidents. So reports Law360.

capitol 720677 640smallDuring a hearing on the SolarWinds data breach, the panel’s chairman, Mark Warner (D-Va.), said, “Why shouldn’t we have mandatory reporting systems, even if those reporting systems require some liability protection, so that we can better understand and mitigate future attacks?”

Committee vice chairman Marco Rubio (D-Fla.) said, “In order to get a fuller view of the problems, perhaps we should mandate certain types of reporting as it is related to cyberattacks.”
