Ransomware Attack Hobbles Ireland’s Health System

A ransomware attack has left Ireland’s health system crippled, facing the prospect of weeks before it is back at full strength. So reports the Associated Press.

irish flag 981641 640Ireland’s health system shut down its entire information technology apparatus after the attack, leading to disruptions for thousands of diagnostic appointments, surgeries and cancer treatments.

While Russian-speaking ransomware group Conti was reportedly seeking $20 million, Irish officials have said that they refuse to pay.
