Russian Cybercriminals Phish for U.S. Nuclear Secrets  

A Russian hacking outfit called Cold River set up phony login pages for three U.S. nuclear research laboratories and emailed scientists in an effort to find out their passwords, according to internet records. So reports Reuters.

russia 1020934 640smallThe news agency says the records, which it reviewed along with five cybersecurity experts, showed Cold River’s targets were the Brookhaven, Argonne and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories.

While it is unclear if the hacking operations were successful, they reportedly occurred between August and September, as President Vladimir Putin hinted at the potential use of nuclear weapons.
