Leaky Database Found Holding Records on 1.2 Billion People

Two security researchers have announced their discovery of an unsecured, 4-terabyte database holding information on 1.2 billion people. So reports PC Magazine.

Researcher Vinny Troia wrote in a blog post that the cache of “names, email addresses, phone numbers, LinkedIn and Facebook profile information” represented “one of the largest data leaks from a single source organization in history.”

Much of the data was apparently scraped from the open internet. The owner of the database is unknown.
