UAE Infosec Chief Warns of Mideast 'Cyber Pandemic'

A “cyber pandemic” is underway in the Middle East as hacking efforts involving the coronavirus soar, the United Arab Emirates’ cybersecurity boss has cautioned. So reports CNBC.

uae 5342435 640Mohamed al-Kuwaiti, head of UAE Government Cyber Security, told a panel in Dubai Cyber that attacks within his country alone have climbed 250% this year.

Phishing and ransomware attacks were becoming more complex and prevalent amid the COVID-19 pandemic, al-Kuwaiti said, and he named Iran as one of an array of actors behind the attacks.
