SolarWinds Hack Also Targeted Federal Prosecutors, DOJ says

According to the Department of Justice, Russian hackers linked to the sprawling SolarWinds cyberattack also breached federal prosecutors’ email systems last year. So reports the Associated Press.

russia 1020934 640smallThe DOJ said in a statement that four-fifths of employees’ Microsoft email accounts in the four New York U.S. attorney offices were compromised, while overall, at least one employee’s account was breached in 27 U.S. Attorney offices nationwide.

The hacking campaign is thought to have taken place from May 7 to Dec. 27, 2020, shortly before the SolarWinds campaign was revealed in mid-December.
