Amazon Fined $887M Over EU Privacy Violations

Amazon has been hit with a record fine of $887 million (746 million euros) by the European privacy regulator for violating the European Union’s data protection law. So reports The Washington Post.

gdpr 3285252 1920The fine, disclosed in a securities filing, was the biggest imposed to date under the EU’s three-year-old General Data Protection Regulation, easily topping a $56.6 million penalty imposed against Google.

European regulators have been stepping up scrutiny of Amazon, Google, Apple and other big tech companies.
