Ukraine Enlists Hacking Help from Volunteer 'IT Army'

Since Russian forces invaded, a Ukrainian “IT Army” of volunteers has been fighting back online. So reports Wired.

cyber security 3400555 640Ukraine’s deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced the formation of the government-led volunteer unit on his official Telegram channel, writing, “We have a lot of talented Ukrainians in the digital sphere: developers, cyber specialists, designers, copywriters, marketers. We continue to fight on the cyber front.”

More than 175,000 people have subscribed to the IT Army’s separate Telegram channel, and subscribers have been asked to launch cyberattacks against various Russian targets, although the effort’s impact is unclear.
