Feds Investigate Healthcare Data Breaches Affecting 1.4 Million People  

The federal government is looking into healthcare data breaches involving more than one million people in North Carolina and South Carolina alone. So reports WCNC.

magnifying glass 29398 640smallU.S. Department of Health and Human Services documents indicate that healthcare companies in the Carolinas have disclosed 47 major breaches since 2020, affecting 1.4 million people.

Federal records show that the Office for Civil Rights is right now probing 26 of those episodes. A UNC Charlotte information systems professor called the number of people affected “shocking.”
