Washington, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine claimed that Zuckerberg failed to safeguard consumer information in the wake of the leak, which was reported by media outlets in 2018 and allegedly affected 87 million Americans.
"The evidence shows Mr. Zuckerberg was personally involved in Facebook's failure to protect the privacy and data of its users leading directly to the Cambridge Analytica incident," Racine said in a statement.
Meta declined to comment.
