Twitter Reviews Alleged Breach Involving 5.4M Users  

A Twitter spokesperson has confirmed that the social media giant is “reviewing the latest data to verify the authenticity” of someone’s claims to have breached a data set including sensitive information on 5.4 million Twitter users. So reports Fortune.

twitter 2430933 1280A dark-web user is reportedly hawking the alleged data set, including phone numbers and email addresses, for at least $30,000.

The purported breach apparently stems from a security flaw discovered in January. “We received a report of this incident several months ago through our bug bounty program, immediately investigated thoroughly and fixed the vulnerability,” the Twitter spokesperson told Fortune.
