San Francisco 49ers Agree to Pay Data Breach Victims  

The NFL’s San Francisco 49ers have settled a class action lawsuit over a 2022 ransomware attack that affected almost 21,000 people. So reports The Athletic.

San Francisco 49ersUnder the proposed settlement filed in California federal court, the professional football franchise would pay class members up to $2,000 each for “ordinary expenses,” up to $7,500 apiece for “documented extraordinary sentences” and an $85 cash payment for California class members.

Along with offering two years of identity protection services for class members, the settlement also calls on the 49ers to hire a cybersecurity specialist and create the new role of executive vice president of technology to lead IT operations.
