TSMC Brushes Off $70M Ransom Demand, Faults Supplier

Hit by a $70 million ransom demand from the Russian-speaking cybercrime group known as LockBit, TSMC has acknowledged that hackers stole data from one of its suppliers but maintained that the breach neither affected operations nor compromised its customers’ information. So reports CNN.

TSCM“After the incident, TSMC has immediately terminated its data exchange with this concerned supplier in accordance with the company’s security protocols and standard operating procedures," the semiconductor giant and major Apple supplier said in a statement.

The TSMC supplier, Kinmax, said in a statement disseminated by TSMC that the "leaked content mainly consisted of system installation preparation that the company provided to our customers as default configurations.”
