Texas Adds New Data Breach Notification Requirement

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed a bill that changes the state’s data breach notification requirements, effective September 1. So reports Business Insurance.

flag 28569 640The new law requires the Texas attorney general to post a listing of breaches that involve at least 250 of the state’s residents.

A similar law in California requires such posts for breaches that involve 500 or more residents.
