UK Allows Huawei Gear for 5G, But Security Worries Remain

The UK government’s ruling that China-based telecommunications giant can sell equipment for next-generation 5G mobile networks there, under certain limits, has left open the question of whether the limits will effectively provide the intended security protections. So reports Wired.

 

huawei 4234821 1280The UK’s Department of Culture said it will prohibit “high risk vendors” from “core” 5G network infrastructure, allowing their gear only in the “periphery” of the network.

Security pros said that actually distinguishing “core” equipment from “periphery” with 5G will not be easy.
