Booking.com Fined $560k Under GDPR for Late Breach Report

A Dutch regulator has fined travel website Booking.com €475,000 ($560,000) for not reporting a data breach as soon as required under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. So reports Forbes.com.

gdpr 3285252 1920Netherlands-based Booking.com suffered a breach in 2018 and failed to report it within the GDPR’s required 72-hour notification period.

Monique Verdier, vice president of the Dutch Data Protection Authority, said in a statement announcing the fine, “This is a serious violation.”
