Federal Gov’t Shutdown Hit Cyber Security Workforce Hard

The U.S. cybersecurity workforce suffered a steep reduction sans a spending bill to keep government running. So reports the Fifth Domain.

White house documents show close to 800,000 workers were impacted without a deal that needed to be signed by Dec. 21. The National Institute of Standards and Technology was hit hardest with 85% of its employees furloughed. The newly created Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has 65% of its employees exempt from furlough, though, making it one of the more protected agencies.
